My next step was to try to restore my PC from a previous restore point. Removed FiveM, and meticulously went through my registry removing any entry that contained “FiveM” in any string or key (and for those wondering, I’ve been building and maintaining PC’s since the advent of Windows 98, I know what I’m doing in the registry). I left it for around 50 minutes to see if anything would happen, but no, the launcher just hangs on the initial loading screen. Even though according to Task Manager the FiveM launcher uses between 4 to 7% of CPU usage, there’s no disk usage or network usage. However the app just hangs there and GTA never loads up. I didn’t get another request from FiveM to verify my ownership and went straight to the initial loading screen, saying “it WILL be worth the wait”. Later, when the servers were back up and running again, I tried again. However at the time the Rockstar Social Club servers were down so verification was unsuccessful. I installed FiveM and after install finished, it asked me to log into my social club account to verify my ownership of my copy of GTA V as per normal.
